Babyshower Drama

So sorry to leave yall hanging on the scoop but I couldn't get away from Truitt yesterday.  First things first, he is already doing SO much better! He woke up this morning and was still able to breathe out of his nose and his eyes weren't matted shut or nearly as swollen as yesterday! The eyedrops are obviously helping but they are nearly impossible to use.  They are honestly as thick as honey and he sees them coming and clenches his eyes shut.  They're still too swollen to hold open so what I've done is nurse him and try to time it right to get drop in!

Now what you're really wanting to hear :)  Ok, so we all remember the facebook nonsense where evil sister-in-law went all judgemental on my parenting skills and then the update a few days later (if you weren't around then, you should definitely go read!). Well after that she deleted me as her friend but her status updates about my brother-in-law and their unborn child are so ridiculous that two of my couisns always send me screen shots of her crazy ramblings!

Anyway, we got through the holidays with very little conversing between the two of us but were both decent.  As the time for the baby shower got closer I willingly helped MIL get it together by addressing and sending the envelopes, ordering and picking up the cake and balloons, making a diaper cake and then getting everything set up the day of. We asked SIL several times for addresses but she insisted that she wasn't going to be inviting anyone-rude!  Anyway, shower day came and we had about 15 people there from my in-laws' family and friend and then SIL brought one friend with her.  The shower went quite well and while it wasn't anything extra special, because lets face it- I'm saving my cute ideas for someone who deserves it, it was still really nice.  She didn't bring a camera so I had a friend taking pictures of everything while I was writing down the gifts.  After all of the gifts were open BIL asked if I could send the pics to his email and I said no problem.  He thanked me for the shower and hugged me but SIL didn't thank me... at all.

Sunday night I came home and started attaching the pictures to an email but due to file size they were taking approx 1min each. 46 pictures=46 minutes.  While that was happening I uploaded these pictures to my facebook...

as well as one of a closeup of the cake that said "Congratulations D and T!"and tagged BIL in it and one really good picture of them standing in front of the cake.  It was a very good picture of them both- no double chins, funky faces or anything like that.... Then all hell broke loose:

Ok.  Now had I posted pictures of their newborn baby or announced her name and arrival before they had a chance to, yes that'd be wrong...but baby shower pictures?  And seriously she was in ONE picture and it was a good picture!!!  So what do you think?

Sickity sick!

Sorry for the delay in updating.  So, I called the doctor's office as soon as they opened the phone lines and said I need an early appointment or needed to know what Urgent Care center to go to- luckily 8:30 was open so I finished getting ready and headed up there.  Soon after we got on the road Truitt sneezed and from what I could tell from the mirror he had snot ALL over his face.  I tried to wipe it as best as I could while driving and when we got to the doctor's office I still had a lot of cleaning up to do!  Anyway, he's up to 21.2lbs with clothes and shoes on.  Dr L opened the door and said "that's pink eye" before he was even in the room.  He also has a terrible ear infection.  He's guessing that it started out viral, probably in his adenoids since Saturday I started up with a very sore throat that means I most likely caught it from him, and then turned bacterial in his ear.  The type of bacteria that caused the infection happens to be what triggered the pink eye too.  We are still very early into the pink-eye since his eyeballs aren't yet pink but had we not gone in it would have been raging soon enough.  So he's on an oral antibiotic for the ear and an eyedrop antibiotic as well.  Do you know how hard it is to get a drop in a baby's swollen eye? Plus, the stuff is as thick as honey!!!  To make matters even better he busted the heck out of his top lip this afternoon.  He was running around and went mouth first into the coffee table.  Lips bleed a LOT! Luckily, or amazingly, he isn't seeming to be too bothered by any of this!  Thank you for all of the prayers and well wishes.

PS I'm working on an update about my evil SIL! Shower was this past weekend and whoaaaaa!

Dr appt in 45min

He most certainly did not get better overnight!

Poor baby boy :(

Every time a cold front pushes through it seems Truitt gets sick. I noticed Truitt sounded congested after he fell asleep Wednesday night. Thursday morning he woke up at 4:30am with a fever and a bit of nasal congestion. I gave him some Tylenol, we played for awhile and then fell back to sleep on the recliner. He did fine all day with no fever but that evening he started to feel warm again. I figured teething but we did ibuprofen and went to bed. He woke up at about 3:30am burning up again. Same routine of meds, playing, sleeping in the chair and then once we got up again he was fine. We went out to eat with E's parents and he fell asleep on the way home and when we got him out of the carseat you could tell his fever had come back. Again, same routine of meds and bed. He and E fell asleep around 8:30 and I stayed up only to have T wake up 4x in the 3 hours prior to me coming to bed. Once again he woke up at 4am HOT and this time his eye was matted shut. E got up with us and once his fever had broken and I nursed him back to sleep E rocked him in the chair and I went back to bed. He was acting ok but the outside of his eye was getting really red. I immediately thought of pink eye the inside of his eye is white and he isn't rubbing them or doing anything to invite they itch. Then last night my throat started aching horribly! I'm sure I'd my throat hurts, his does foo.The two of us went to bed before E. T woke again at 4 and BOTH eyes were matted and his nose was plugged with thick green snot. The snot turned bloody when we used saline on it and we can't seem to wipe his eyes fat enough.

So, it seems like we will be heading to the dr in the morning unless he wakes up all better. We've been giving him Benadryl nearly around the clock as it isn't helping much at all. My guess is that the front triggered allergies which has turned into an infection somewhere but all I know Is having a sick baby is the worst!

Will update tomorrow and hopefully post his 13mo update soon!

ThirtyOne

I hadn't heard of ThrityOne until about 6 months ago when I read a blog that was having a giveaway.  ThirtyOne is a faith based direct sales company that sells Purses, Totes and other organizational items! A few weeks later at our Just Between Friends Consignment sale there was a consultant there as a vendor and I entered to win a free thermal tote.  Turns out I won the free tote so when I went to pick it  up I asked her about becoming a consultant.  It sounded fantastic but the timing was all wrong.  It was coming up on Thanksgiving and then Christmas and Truitt's birthday.  She was very patient and we kept in contact and decided that I would have my launch party in January.  Typically you enroll ($99) a week or so before your launch party but the timing was tricky on mine.  The new Spring enrollment kit was available if you signed on 1/15 or later BUT if you were already a consultant and  submitted $800 in sales by 1/15 you would get an add-on kit for FREE.  We decided that we'd use my director (the lady from the JBF event)'s product at my launch party on 1/14 and if my party sold $800 then we'd sign up that day and submit my party by the next night so I could get the add-on kit for free and if we didn't make the $800 then we'd wait and sign up the following day so I could get the new kit.  The average party is $450 so I wasn't expecting anywhere close to $800 but thanks to some amazing friends and family I sold $902!!!

I've already gotten my first paycheck.  I decide how much time to put into it and in turn about how much money I'll be making.  There are some fantastic incentives so I'm trying to book a ton of parties over the next few months and then will decide if I want to slow down or not.   Right now I have a catalog party closing Sunday, a party next Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, one the last Saturday of the month, and then the first Saturday of March.

I am LOVING having something to do and the adult contact! I guess I'm now a WAHM!!!

Excuse the poor quality cellphone pics!

12 month well visit...

Three weeks late! Truitt is up to 20.6lbs (we graduate to the big boy scale that he just stands on instead of the infant scale so no more ounces) and 31in tall! His head circumferance is 18.5in.  So 40% weight, 80% height and 75% head.

The visit went very well and his ears are crystal clear.  Dr L checked them with some machine (tympanogram?) which showed everything to be great and he said hopefully tubes are NOT in our future.  The most fantastic news is that HIS HYDROCELES RESOVED THEMSELVES so that means no Urologist and most importantly no surgery! I am elated about this!

We asked about when to go to the dentist and he said that Dentists says between 1 and 2, the AAP says 3, and the local dentists in our area say 2 years.  He said that we do need to switch from the baby toothpaste to a children's low flouride toothpaste and even though he will swallow some it's ok as long as it's children's paste.  We should try to brush twice a day but as long as we do it at night that's good for now.  E's insurance has open enrollment in the fall so we will go ahead and add Dental onto Truitt's coverage.

I asked about introducting whole milk and he said to start whenever we're ready.  I can mix it 1/2 with breastmilk but it's not necessary.  He recommends him drinking 2-4 sippy cups a day but says some days he won't even drink one.  Just always offer it, especially at meals.  As long as he's nursing, which Dr L had no objection to "still" nursing, and eating well there are no worries.  He also said we can give him low sodium v8 or v8 fusion if we're worried he isn't getting enough nutrients but a vitamin is not needed.  Truitt is a great eater thankful and not picky at all!  I did ask about how to start weaning and he said that unfortuantely I'll feel guilty about it whether I start today or when he's 2 but the best way is just to figure out what works for us.  Redirect him if it's not nap or night time and then slowly take away nap time and then night time but he said there's no rush!

So... that was pretty much it.  Dr L waits until 15months for the Chicken Pox vaccine but today we did get the MMR, Hep A and PCV.  He held his breath and turned BRIGHT red (slightly purple) to the point where the nurse told us to blow on his face so he'd take a breath! Poor buddy.  He also had skipped his afternoon nap so that made things a little worse but he's peacefully napping on me now.

We go back at 15months and then 18months and then not until 2years.  This baby boy is growing up entirely too fast!

Oink, baa, neigh, moo, Truitt wants to share his first birthday with you!

Sorry for the delay but I was waiting on the pictures from Truitt's birthday party last weekend.  The party went off without a hitch and I am so pleased with how it turned out.  Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the pictures.  When the photographer got there (we've used her for Maternity and Bluebonnet pictures) I told her I wanted pictures of the decorations (balloons, banner, monthly pictures), the food and cake table, and the cake smash.  I got the CD yesterday and was so excited to see everything especially after her super cute teasers she posted on facebook.  There is not one single picture of the food.  I worked SO hard on making name plates and the cute sayings of "vegetable garden" "fresh produce" "tractor bales" etc. I texted her to see if maybe she took some and just didn't add them to the CD but nope, not a single one.  I was so upset I cried. I didn't take a single picture with my camera because that what we were paying her to be there for.  I know that everyone who was at the party knows how cute it was but I wanted a picture of it to remember it by and have it in his scrapbook.  Also, the banner that took over an hour to make? Only one off centered picture with someone reaching for food in the middle of it.  I was beyond upset about it last night but I know I can't do anything about it now.  A few people had cameras and I'm going to get ahold of them hoping they got a picture of it.  So... here's Truitt's barnyard bash in pictures!

Another ear infection

Truitt's nose has been runny since his front teeth got close to coming through the gums. This weekend he started pulling on his ears although he's done that when his teeth have come in before. Saturday night he was pretty restless and nursing a lot more than normal and then last night was awful. He didn't want to fall asleep so we got out of bed but then he just cried so we came back to bed and he finally fell asleep. Around 12 I needed to pee but I couldn't get him to unlatch without waking so finally I just woke E up and told him I had to get up. Truitt screamed the entire 1-2 minutes I was out of bed and quickly fell back asleep. Around 4 the same thing happened only he would not fall back asleep. I tried shushing, nursing, and even sat up and was rocking him but nothing helped. I got up and spent the next 2 HOURS trying to soothe him. He didn't want to play, he didn't want to nurse, he didn't want anything. I gave him some ibuprofen and then a little later gave him two teething tablets and finally at 6 we both passed out. I set my alarm for 7:30 to call the pediatrician and unfortunately Dr L was still out of the office so we made an appt w the Dr we saw over thanksgiving. Truitt is up to 21lb 4.5oz with clothes and shoes on! She checked his ears and while his right only had clear fluid on it the left had a nasty infection and was red and full of pus. She also said around his molars is really swollen so they may be coming in soon. We were supposed to go to his 12month well visit on Thursday w Dr L but she said to push it back a week so Dr L can recheck his ears. Dr L is completely booked for well visits so now we won't be going in until the 19th! I need to go back and check but I think this is his 2nd ear infection on the left and he's had 3 on the right (one double and then 2 on just the right). Hopefully we aren't getting close to needing tubes although E and his brother both had to have them as toddlers...
