I'm tagged!

let me start out by saying I'm sorry I didn't get to the blog awards I was given.  With Thanksgiving, then Christmas and Truitt's birthday I have definitely slacked on blogging but Briana tagged me and since all of the holidays are over I think I have time!

Rules:

1. You must post these rules.
2. Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog.
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and create11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
4. You have to choose 11 people to tag and linkthem on the post.
5. Go to their page and tell them you have linked him or her.
6. No tag backs.
7. No stuff in the tagging section about ‘you aretagged if you are reading this.’ You legitimatelyhave to tag 11 people.

Ok so 11 things about me
1. I went to THREE differenet elementary schools and 2 different high schools
2.  I went to Texas A&M University for a semester but got horribly homesick so I came home and went to community college where I only got my Associate's degree
3. I still regret that I don't have my Bachelor's but I do NOT regret leaving A&M
4.  My Dad is Jewish and my Mom is Christian.  They exposed us to both religions and let us choose. I went to a Methodist church in high school and loved it and really want to start back to church weekly but I don't feel comfortable leaving Truitt in the nursery and I don't think he will be remotely quiet for an hour.
5.  In high school I played TUBA in band :)
6.  I was a BOY SCOUT!  Venture- Boy Scouts of America!
7.  I cannot watch the ASPCA commericals without crying so I normally change the channel.  Those animals look so sad!
8.  My husband and I met through yahoo personals
9. I am REALLY starting to get baby fever!!!
10. I am one of 5 kids from my dad.  I have an older half brother and half sister, then my sister and myself and then a younger half sister.  There is a 30 year age gap between the oldest and youngest.
11.  I have had pet dogs, cats, rabits, hamsters, a hedgehog, and fish!  I love animals :)

Now, the 11 questions from Bri
1.  If you could meet one person living or decesed who would it be?
Whoa! She starts off with a deep one! This is really hard to say but my mom's grandmother.  She was a true farm wife and did everything from kill the chickens to making their own soap!
2.  If you could rename yourself what would it be?
I actually love my name. I think there were only 2 other Samanthas in my entire grade and I never had classes with them.  I'm not that big of a fan of my middle name- Renee.  I would have preffered my mom's middle name of Anne.
3. What is your lucky number?
I don't have a single one but I use special dates like birthdays and anniversarys so for me 2, 6, 21, 25, 28 are all lucky
4.  Are you afraid of anything?
Lots! Mainly losing those close to me.  Also I'm afraid of snakes, the dark, and failing.
5. Furthest destination away from home you have traveled?
Mileage wise would probably be New York City.  I would also consider Cozumel Mexico because even though it's not as many miles it is outside of the US!
6. How many kids do you want?
I say 3, E says 2.  I think it truly depends on how we're doing after the next baby.  I will NOT be getting my tubes tied though so there's always a chance for more.
7. Must see TV Show?
I have quite a list, thank goodness for DVR.  I would say Grey's Anatomy, Teen Mom (guilty pleasure), Top Chef, and One Born Every Minute are my biggest ones.
8. Wildest thing you have everd done?
I'm pretty lame.  In high school (and this was STUPID!) we dedcided to tie a skateboard behind the car and ride down the street laying on it.  I guess that's probably it.  No bungee jumping, tattoos, cliff diving etc from me.
9.  How much would someone have to pay you for you to shave your head.
That's a toughie too.  I'd say $1000
10. Top goal for 2012
Lose another 10-20lbs (more if we're not pregnant)
11.  What is usual bed/wake up time?
USUALLY I lay down to nurse T at 8pm and am on my phone (facebook, pinterest, texting, etc) until around 9 and then we're up for the day at 7:30

That was fun!

I am totally going to break the rules and am tagging all of my followers!!! I really would love to know

1.  What do you miss most about high school?
2.  If you could visit one place for a week where would you go?
3.  Someone tells you they'll pay for it no matter how much or little- what car would you buy?
4.  Favorite store?
5. Must have item in your pantry?
6. What is your most overused phrase?
7.  Which do you rely on most- tv, computer or phone?
8. If you could go back and change one thing from 2011 what would it be? Or would you leave it all the same?
9.  Chapstick, lip gloss or lipstick?
10. If you could choose- how many kids, boy or girl?
11.  What is your main goal for 2012?

Make sure you let me know if you did it!

Birthday party success!

Whew! I'm so glad this is only once a year.  I am EXHAUSTED but it was well worth it.  Unfortunately I don't have ANY pictures to share yet because I was so busy I didn't take a single one with my camera but hopefully the photographer will get them to us ASAP!  We had 25 adults and 14 kids at the party! The decorations turned out cute even though I didn't have enough time to do as much as I wanted.  Lunch was delicious and Truitt got a ton more toys and adorable clothes.  I think we only got two more duplicate gifts so not bad at all!  Truitt was so happy and it wasn't until cake time that he started slowing down so he wasn't much in the mood to smash his cake but we were ok with that.  We had the party at my in law's because it's much bigger and he was asleep before we even pulled out of the driveway.  I'm pretty sure I'm about to join him and take a nap too!

One year. My sweet baby boy is one year old. This has been the hardest, most rewarding and enjoyable year of my life so far. I cannot believe how fast it has flown by and even more, I cannot believe how much my newborn has grown and developed into a toddler.

Truitt is becomming quite the talker and now regularly uses Mama, Dada, Dog (doe), Milk, More, Ball, Bye, Ut (for ut oh) and we swear sometimes he will say crazy things like elephant, popsicle, tomorrow etc. I know he's not really saying those big words but it surely sounds like it! I am still signing milk, more, all done, up and diaper to him but have been slacking a but because I'm getting frustrated that he isn't signing back but I know consistency is key so I need to keep at it.

This month Truitt tried catfish and did just fine. He hasn't had cow's milk to drink although he has been very instrested in my smoothies and cereal so he has had milk in that way while sharing with me and we haven't noticed any ill effets from it. He also tried eggs on Christmas and not only did he do fine but he LOVED them! We go to the doctor on the 5th and I'll be asking about when to be introducing peanut butter, honey and milk to drink. Truitt also prefers a straw over a sippy cup and will now gulp down water whenever he's really thirsty instead of just sipping on it. For breakfast his preference seems to be dry cheerios and banana. He has recently started refusing to be spoon fed so oatmeal and yogurt don't work too well. He is using a spoon himself but has a hard time scooping food back up before bringing it back to his mouth. Lunch and supper are whatever we're eating. He normally snacks on fruit or cheese midmorning and the same mid afternoon.

Truitt is still nursing quite often. He nurses on demand but always before napping and falling asleep and random times throughout the day. Normally he will take a midmorning nap around 10 and then another nap around 2. Bedtime is about 8 (give or take 30 minutes) and he wakes up for the day around 7:30. This past month he has done SO much better and normally goes from about 8pm-2am and then until 5 and that's when he starts nursing on and off again until he's up for the day. There have been some rough nights but we are having more good nights than we have bad.

Truitt got THREE teeth this month. The top two teeth were brutal coming through and he still has a stuffy nose because of them. Vampire baby no longer! He has NOT bitten me while nursing, Thank God!, but he has bitten my finger while I was feeling in his mouth and yowtch! We did buy some Hyland's teething tablets this month and they really seem to help.

Bathtime is still one of his favorite activites. He has started loving to run over to the dogs this month as they finally are letting him play with them more since he now can pet them instead of just smacking them. Truitt loves playing with other kids and is an expert as giving big slobbery kisses and the sweetest hugs ever! He still really enjoys playing with all of the balls he has accquired and his trucks/cars/trains.

Truitt celebrated his first Christmas this month and loved ripping into the paper to see his presents although he wasn't too keen on having to leave one toy for another. His birthday party is tomorrow and I can't wait!!!

Truitt, your mommy and daddy love you so much. You are the sweetest baby boy and we cannot imagine life without you. You always make us smile and you are the best thing that has ever happened to us. Happy birthday sweet boy!

TRUITT IS ONE YEAR OLD!!!

I have a long sappy post all written out but someone isn't wanting to take his 12mo sticker pictures so it will have to wait until tomorrow. Today we celebrated his birthday by taking Truitt to Build a Bear, eating lunch at Olive Garden, and then going to one of our favorite places for supper.  He was a great boy and smiled so big everytime someone told him happy birthday.

I do have to admit that last night as he was snuggling with me I got teary eyed knowing that he was getting ready for bed as an 11month old and waking up as a 1 year old.  It was truly amazing nursing him to sleep knowing that we made it to a year without spending a single cent on formula!  This afternoon as we were on our way back from the mall and he was sleeping in his carseat I quietly sang him Happy Birthday at 2:22pm and my eyes welled up again.  What an amazing year this has been!  If you want to look back on how we got here, you can read my birth story!

1st year must haves

So I know I've been doing new products each month on my must haves but now that we've hit the big FIRST BIRTHDAY I wanted to take a look back at everything from the past months and let you know what we're still using!

Flander's diaper cream
Photobucket
We apply a tiny bit after each poo and it keeps his heiny good as new!

Bedtime bubble bath
Photobucket
We've switched to Target brand but still use this in almost every bath!

Shampoo Rinse Cup
Photobucket
Even with a very squirmy kiddo this keeps water out of his eyes

Old Navy Perfect Tank
Photobucket
I still wear under any shirt and am able to nurse in public sans cover without exposing skin!

Pikkolo Carrier
Photobucket
I wear Truitt every week at Walmart, on other shopping trips, and even at home when he's super clingy and I HAVE to get stuff done!

Baltic Amber Necklace
Photobucket
I swear by it.

Fisherprice Heathy Care Booster
Photobucket
Easy clean up, doesn't take up much room, PERFECT!

Combi Cosmo Stroller
Photobucket
This is so much lighter and smaller than our travel system stroller and I LOVE that it reclines so if he happens to sleep in it he isn't slouched over like he would be if it were just a normal umbrealla stroller.

Stride Rite Tennis Shoes
Photobucket
Although he already outgrew this pair we have bought another pair (size and style) and we still love them! Definitely worth the price.

Scensory Balls
Photobucket
This kid loves them.

a whole year of baby gadgets!!!

This is not even everything.  The Sports Climber, some trucks, a shape sorter and stacking blocks were in the living room and the Cozy Coupe, Wagon, and 3 in 1 trike are in the garage. We also got him a thing in the bathtub for his toys and a water faucet cover.   Needless to say, our family went a bit overboard.
