22 weeks!!! *PICTURE*

How Far Along: 22 weeks!

How Big is The Baby: Now about or over a pound! In the next 4 weeks we can expect baby to double his weight, whoa!  So much for fruit fun though, now we only get a new fruit once a month rather than weekly so baby is still about the size of a PAPAYA!  I went to walmart last week and picked up the smallest papaya they had and it was still huge!

Total Weight Gain: I've decided that I will only answer this on doctor weeks since our scale is crap. My doctor and I will both be very pleased if I can keep the weight gain at 1 lb/week or about 5 per month.

Maternity Clothes: Uh huh! I bought a cute dress on sale for $9 that has a tie around the waste but of course it rolls up to under my chest and it looks SO cute!

Sleep: I think I have been going to bed too early because I have started staying up until 9 or 10 (instead of 8 or 9) and only wake up 2-3 times.  I have a really hard time falling back asleep but it's better than waking up every other hour! I am going to ask Dr P about taking benadryl or tylenol pm occasionally at my next appointment.

Gender: BOY!!!

Movement: I experienced my first kick to the bladder. WHOA! I thought I was instantly going to pee myself, ran to the bathroom and then didn't need to go.  As soon as he kicked again the same thing happened.  Luckily he moved and is no longer kicking the bladder! His kicks are still really low though.

Food Cravings: I always thought people crave a specific food their whole pregnancy like waffles and meatballs or something (not those specifically but I didn't want to use the pickle cliche).  Anyway, my cravings haven't been like that mine are if I want something then I HAVE to have it!  The other day I wanted an Arby's sandwhich but there was a bad storm that knocked out power to half the town so I had to wait until the power came back up so I could go get it.  Jess mentioned lemon cake so I HAD to go to walmart and buy lemon bar mix :)

What I Miss: Sleeping through the night

What I'm looking forward to: E being able to feel a kick! We're only a week and a half away from our big anatomy scan (why is my doctor the only one that waits until 24 weeks?!) and TWO WEEKS AWAY FROM 24 WEEKS!

Milestones: I have noticed at the end of the day I have a pregnant waddle.  Haha, it's not from being too big it's from round ligament pain but I think it's funny.

I think the belly looks smaller this week but I'm pretty sure it's just because my shirt isn't tight on the bottom of my belly like the last few have been!

Ode to the Granny Panties

I've never been a fancy pantie gal... I'd wear a thong if the bottoms required one but I rarely wear pants or a skirt that would me that necessary.  I have an entire drawer full of sexy panties that I got during my personal shower before the wedding (18 months ago) and almost everything still has tags on it.  Anyway cotton bikinis are my favorite.  Last week I decided to invest (hah) in some cheapie hanes no ride up cotton bikini briefs that are a size bigger than what I was wearing any oh my goodness they are fantastic!!!  They're still slightly big on the tush but the lack of any pressure anywhere is so fantastic!  I am so happy with them I just had to blog about it.  Moral of the story: if you wear cute undies for the sake of being cute, get over it and go get some comfy cottons! You'll love it!

Hahahaha TMI! While speaking panty talk... HOW THE HECK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KEEP "GROOMING"?!  Seriously though... I'm terrified of waxing my woohoo but I still like to keep things under control... The other day I tried to shave while in the tub and that was a no go.  Yesterday I tried again while in the shower and cannot see anything!  Not to mention my hairgrowth rate has at least doubled this is going to make for a scary situation.  Thank goodness there's no planned internal exams for a few months but I have to figure something out.  E may have to bite the bullet and help me out or I'll invest in a full length mirror maybe. ALSO- SERIOUS QUESTION HERE- Are you supposed to shave everything before labor?  Please fill me in if you know!  There are so many little questions I have about stuff that no one talks about.  One day I'll fill you in on my horror of pooping all over the bed while pushing... you know, they say push like you're constipated.  I'm going to start keeping enemas with my come 37 weeks.  Ok sorry for the gross out.

If you're still reading way to go!  Annnnnyway good news! As I have complained about it MANY times at work my current schedule was Friday-Monday.  It is being changed to Wednesday-Saturday so I will have Sundays off! I am SO excited!  I am so excited to get to start to going to church regularly now as well as getting to have a day off with E.  I have two more weekends on the old schedule and then starting the second week of September I switch.  Fingers crossed it stays that way!

A sleepy situation

***THIS IS GOING TO BE WHERE I START TO WHINE AND IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT, DON'T READ THIS POST***

Thank you for listening to me gripe. Please know that I wouldn't trade ANYTHING for this pregnancy and I would rather be sleep walking through my day than not getting to experience this. I'm sure being tired is better than morning sickness too! Any advice is welcomed!

I just want to be able to sleep through the night.  I have accepted this isn't going to happen until my baby is old enough to sleep through the night.  I have now gotten in a routine where I cannot sleep for more than 3 hours at a time; 3 hours is actually a blessing.  Last night for example- I went to bed at 9 and was up at 11, 1, 3:30 AND THEN EVERY HOUR until I gave up at 7 and got out of bed.  Sure if I told you I was in bed from 9-7 that sounds amazing until you see how often I was up. Not only is it the getting up often, it's the fact that I cannot fall back asleep easily.

Pretty much the only position is my left side and my hip literally feels bruised.  I sit on an ice pack on and off during the day to help it out.  IF I try my right side I can fall asleep but wake up with a horrible ache in my ovary.  I know the doctor said waking up on my back doesn't warrant a freak out but I'm really not supposed to make a habit of sleeping that way.  I think tonight I may try moving to the living room and sleeping in E's recliner to see if that helps any.

It's not just one thing waking me up... It's heartburn, having to pee, being thirsty, and charlie horses.  I KNOW that when you get a charlie horse in your calf you're supposed to grab your toes and pull them to cause your muscle to stretch but this morning it would.not.work!  Finally after trying to stand it went away.

The other big problem is the being thirsty/having to pee.  My nose has been getting really stuffy in the evenings so I'm sure I'm sleeping with my mouth open because I wake up SO thirsty and my tounge is dry so I drink just a SIP and wake up an hour later after having a dream I peed myself or am about to(literally having those dreams nightly) and run to the bathroom.  Anyone ever used nose strips; do they help?  I was thinking about trying a humidifier too.

I think I'm also getting to the point where I'm going to ask Dr P about taking Tylenol PM or Benadryl at night.  I really hate to take meds but I am almost nonfunctional during the day because I'm so tired and what's going to happen when I get huge and uncomfortable and won't even be able to sleep as much as I am now?

In happy news we went to E's cousin's first high school volleyball game yesterday and our little guy looooooves sports (or the people shouting and momma cheering) because he was moving ALL over the place! ALSO!!!! One of my best friends from high school is a Navy Photojournalist (as is his wife) and they're coming home this weekend for the first time since having their little boy two months ago and they want to take some early maternity pictures!  I cannot wait!!!!

21 weeks!!! *Pictures*

How Far Along: 21 weeks! There are now more weeks "down" than what's left "to go"!

How Big is The Baby: ONE POUND!!!  According to thebump, baby is growing from the size of a BANANA to the size of a PAPAYA!  What to expect says a SPAGHETTI SQUASH!

Total Weight Gain: I've decided that I will only answer this on doctor weeks since our scale is crap. My doctor and I will both be very pleased if I can keep the weight gain at 1 lb/week or about 5 per month.

Maternity Clothes: Pretty much exclusively!

Sleep: Friday night I went to bed at 8:30.  I was up at 10, 12, 1:30, 3, and 6- my alarm clock went off at 7.  Saturday night I went to bed at 9.  I was up at 11, 1, 3, and 5- my alarm went off at 7.  Last night I went to bed at 9. I was up at 10, 1, 2 (and didn't fall back asleep until 3)- my alarm went off at 5.

Gender: BOY!!!

Movement: More frequent daily.  E tried to feel him moving around but as soon as he touches my belly the baby stops moving.  Even if he wasn't being difficult, I don't think he's kicking hard enough yet to be felt through the skin.

Food Cravings: Still fresh fruit.  My mom and I stopped at a fruit stand the other day and got some of the best plums I've ever had.

What I Miss: ***DISCLAIMER- I MAY START TO SOUND WHINY AND I WOULD NOT TRADE ANYTHING FOR THIS PREGNANCY. I  KNOW MANY WOMEN WOULD LOVE TO BE IN MY SITUATION RIGHT NOW BUT THIS IS MY BLOG AND I'M SAYING HOW I FEEL***  I am SO tired! I would love to be able to sleep through the night.  I would even love to sleep for a 6 hour stretch!  I guess it is better preparing me for baby but if you're asking what I miss- I miss a good night's rest!

What I'm looking forward to: E being able to feel a kick! We're only two and a half weeks away from our big anatomy scan (why is my doctor the only one that waits until 24 weeks?!) and three weeks away from 24 weeks!

Milestones: We are now OVER the halfway point!

Garage Sale Finds and Update on J

Thanks again for all of the prayers!  T just called and J is on her way home.  After receiving two units of blood she is doing much better.  The doctor checked her left tube and ovary during the surgery and they are completely intact.  She goes for a follow up on Friday and I think they'll discuss where to go from here.

My great deal for $40!

Photobucket

One of my high school friends has a little boy who will be two in December so the seasons match up great!  She had a garage sale this weekend but I couldn't go because of work so afterwards she told me she had some stuff left and asked if I wanted it all for $40.  What a steal!  Not pictured is a pack and play- I opened it and couldn't get it to fold back up so I put it out for E to figure it out tomorrow.  So a pack and play, a Bumbo with tray, a walker, a never been used baby carrier, bottle warmer, travel bottle warmer, bottle drying rack, sleep positioner, diaper champ (it uses regular trash bags so saves money where as diaper geenie has to use specific bags), a few maternity clothes, play mat and two trash bags worth of clothes!  I went through all of them and orgainzed by size (that's why it's in piles) and got rid of what I didn't want (the two small piles on the table)  I cannot believe how great the stuff is! Most of it looks brand new!  Now if only I had a place to put it...

Update:Not good news for T and J

T sent a text last night at abour 11:30 (THREE hours after J was taken into surgery) saying she was finally in recovery and doing well.  I figured this meant surgery went smoothly and they were able to save the tube.  Wrong.  This morning he told us that it was indeed an ectopic pregnancy AND two cysts AND a ruptured tube.  Needless to say, they took her fallopian tube and she lost over two units of blood.  She is obviously still at the hospital and currently getting a blood transfusion.  I cannot believe how devastating this has to be for them so please continue to keep them in your prayers!

Prayers needed for a friend

E's best friend T is married to J *not my sister J though!*.  When they first got married (I think about 5 years ago) they found out they were pregnant a few months later but miscarried around 12 weeks.  J then got on birth control until they decided they were ready to start trying for a baby and that was last summer.  J got pregnant a few months later but a week or so after telling us they stopped by and I noticed she was smoking again and she told me she had miscarried a few days before at about 7 or 8 weeks.  Since then they have been trying but she is thinking there is a problem becuase they aren't conceiving.  Her doctor isn't willing to test her for issues though until she loses weight and quits smoking.

Her husband called me about an hour ago and told me she had just been taken into surgery.  She had some severe belly pain today and I'm not sure if she went to the doctor or ER but she either has an ectopic pregnancy or has some sort of ovarian or tubal(?) cyst that has ruptured.  In addition to the pain her abdomen was full of blood and fluid.  They're sceptical on if it is an ectopic pregnancy because she would only be about 8-10 days post ovulation so it's surprising it would be causing so much damage already.

So please pray for J that they are able to save her tube and she makes it safely through surgery.  I hope that she and T are ok and that they soon get some answers and are able to add to their family.

T is supposed to call or text when she gets out of surgery and let me know what they found out and I'll be sure to update you.

Thanks for the prayers!

You know you're pregnant when...

when a new song comes on the radio and you find yourself crying and grinning ear to ear.

20 weeks!!! **Updated with Pictures**

How Far Along: 20 weeks! I cannot believe it! We are officially halfway to the end of pregnancy.  When did that happen!?

How Big is The Baby: This week baby is growing from the size a CANTALOUPE to the length of a BANANA! There's a banana in my belly!

Total Weight Gain: The number wasn't nearly as bad as I was preparing for.   Up 4 pounds for the pregnancy.  My doctor and I will both be very pleased if I can keep the weight gain at 1 lb/week or about 5 per month.  I'm just worried about the last two months... babies put on a lot of weight then so that means momma does too- PLUS it'll be Thanksgiving! We'll worry about that when it comes!

Maternity Clothes: Motherhood had a buy one get one 1/2 off jeans sale so I bought two new super cute and comfy pair of jeans so I think 3 pair of jeans will be plenty to rotate through and last me the winter!
Sleep: I'm a bit more sore each time I wake up to move but I'm waking about twice a night to go to the bathroom.  I think by the time we make it to term E will have to sleep in the other bedroom because I will have so many pillows in bed with me!

Gender: BOY!!!

Movement: He's kicking me right now! I asked Dr P if it was normal to be feeling the kicks/punches/rolls so low and he said that was perfectly fine.  Each day they should get harder and move to different spots.  I had a Spanish class for work the past two days and there was a lot of repeating the words in unison as a class and the baby either loved or hated it because he was moving a LOT.

Food Cravings: Nothing really this week. I've been making an active effort to eat more healthy but if I want something sweet I get a small serving of it and that seems to keep everything at bay.

What I Miss: I miss not knowing what round ligament pain is!  Friday night I was in tears (not complaining-just telling you a story) because my left side and hip hurt so badly.  I think it was the chairs in that class but still it was bad! I asked E if he would give me an epidural.  Thankfully I woke up and it was gone and has only returned in small dull bouts.

What I'm looking forward to: E being able to feel a kick!

Milestones: 20 WEEKS! HELLO HALFWAY POINT! Also, IF we have a problem and need to go to the hospital, I no longer go to the ER, I just go to L&D! Hopefully we won't be doing that for 17 more weeks but it feels like I'm graduating or something!

19 weeks 3 days!!!

Just got back from the doctor's office for our monthly checkup.  Everything was looking great.  Baby bean's heartbeat was strong at 140 and my uterus measured right on track.  I am up 5 lbs from last month- 4 total for the pregnancy.  My blood pressure was 118/68.

I had four questions for Dr P and amazingly I remembered them all and got them all answered.
1.  I keep waking up on my back.  Am I hurting the baby?!
-No, laying flat on your back is only a problem at the very end of pregnancy if you have problems with your blood pressure.  My BP and urine have been fine so he said don't worry about it... just try to sleep on my side and if I wake up on my back, roll over.

2.  Weight gain. I know I was very heavy to start with, are you worried about it? It's not that I'm eating because I can, I'm eating because I'm hungry.
-He said he was actually really happy with the fact that I have only gained 4lbs total and said even more than that would have been fine.  He said if I'm hungry I should eat, just try to make good decisions.  I will be keeping with this plan except for the fact that E and I just went to ColdStone for ice cream... It's a once a month thing!

3.  Is it safe to go to a chiropractor?  My hips and lower back are starting to get uncomfortable. I'm not to the point of needing to go yet but may need to soon.
-Yes, as long as they obvioulsy don't take any xrays, don't do any major twisting and are legitimate chiropractors.

4.  I am still terrified to have sex because of bleeding... What do I do?
-He said if I bleed then we know it's just a sensitive cervix since I haven't had bleeding since the last time we had sex (over a month ago!).  He said that if it's office hours to call them and I will come to his office and not have to go to the ER (Wahoo to no $400 bill!).  IF it's after hours but before hospital visiting hours are over and it's after this Sunday-when I'll be 20 weeks- then I go to L&D at the hospital; if it's after visiting hours I'll have to go through the ER but won't be seen, they'll just take me upstairs.  So I think this means E and I will try to have sex next Tuesday before 5pm so if there's a problem we'll just go see Dr P!  Ahh, the joys of scheduled sex (again)!!!

Next visit is scheduled for Septmeber 8th and it will be the big anatomy scan!  Four weeks after that will be the wonderfully dreaded glucose test.  I think I have one more monthly visit after that and then I get seen every two weeks until the last month.  Where is time going?!!?!

I think I am going to cancel the followup ultrasound with the peri on the 7th.  I am worried that insurance will not pay for two scans in two days and Dr P will be checking my placenta on the 8th so there's no reason really to go to the peri.

19 weeks!!!

How Far Along: 19 weeks! Technically we're 1/2 way to term since term is considered 37 weeks- WOW!

How Big is The Baby: This week baby is growing from the size a MANGO to a CANTALOUPE! What?!  That seems huge!  Baby should be around 10.5oz by now!

Total Weight Gain: Well, last week I was thinking 5lbs for the month but according to the home scale I'm up 8lbs from the start of pregnancy.  Sure, 8lbs for 19 weeks doesn't sound bad... until you realize it's NINE pounds in the past 5 weeks.  Ouch!  I am going to ask Dr P about it on Wednesday. It's not the "oh, I'm pregnant I can eat anything" it's "I just ate an hour ago, how is my stomach already growling again?!?!"

Maternity Clothes: Almost exclusively.  For work we wear polo shirts and I bet  I only have about a month or two left in them.  Yesterday I wore a regular t-shirt with jeans and it was too short so I think we're sticking to maternity tops.  I think I need to go shopping this week!

Sleep: I only woke up once Thursday night and it was fantastic but the past two nights I was back to my normal waking up every few hours.  I've also started to notice that my hips are really sore when I wake up from laying on my sides.  I alternate my boppy pregnancy pillow and two king sized pillows between my knees but it's still making for restless nights.  It's fine with me though, gives me a better excuse to get a nap in!

Gender: BOY!!! We will get another ultrasound in a month to see again and as long as it's still a little guy I'll be announcing the name then.  It's not a very common name though so I will probably not be saying it on here just incase someone googles it but I will still share it with you somehow!

Movement: Daily! Still not as much as I would like but I think now he's standing straight up.  Since the movement started it had been on my lower left, towards my hip.  Midweek it changed to the middle of my lower belly.  It is still pretty faint but each day it is a little stronger and a little more frequent!

Food Cravings: Hot fudge.  Evidently you can't really order just hot fudge so I got a 99 cent sundae from sonic last night and gave the ice cream to the dogs and ate the fudge and nuts.  I don't eat like that daily but I had been craving it since last week and I finally gave in.  I'm still eating a ton of fruit, carrots, cucumbers and rice pudding with cinnamon (it seems to keep me full for a while) as well as water with lemon!

What I Miss: This week has been really good so I'm going with NOTHING!

What I'm looking forward to:  E being able to feel a kick! I am on baby center's "plus sized and pregnant" message board and most overweight women said their spouse could feel the baby from the outside around 24 weeks so we're only a month away. Also, we have an appointment on Wednesday and I'm excited to hear his heartbeat!

Milestones: People touching my belly! I know a LOT of pregnant women don't like it but I love it!   It makes me feel like my pregnancy is obvious to them.  No strangers or anything just family, friends, and coworkers :D

I finally ordered a camera cord from amazon.  The cord was $4.50; the shipping was $4.99.  As soon as it gets in I will have lots of pictures to share!

Oh! I think you should all go see my wonderful friend Paige and wish her well during her two week wait.  She had two beautiful embies transferred on Friday and I cannot wait to see her BFP and follow her pregnancy!

We have bedding!

That is, as long as baby bean is still a boy!  E and I went on a mini-vacation to Houston to see my dad.  I had seen some baby bedding I really liked but couldn't find it in a physical store anywhere.  One of the online stores is in Bleiblerville and I googled that and it happens to be about an hour out of Houston so we decided to stop!  First we went to the Blue Bell factory in Brenham and took a tour and then got ice cream- YUM!!!  Afterwards we drove about 20 minutes to Bleiblerville and saw the bedding. It was even better in person than online and we figured since we were there we might as well buy it and save on shipping cost- so we did!  I still need to order the mobile, hamper, and window treatment but I'll wait until we get closer to our due date.  The company has a full refund or exchange policy so if baby bean is a girl we can swap or get our money back!

And I present you with our bedding!!!!
Photobucket

I am in love!  We will painting the walls some shade of brown or khaki and will be putting this decal on the wall!
Photobucket

When are you planning on doing your nursery?  I think we are going to paint at the end of September or early October and I'd like to have everything set up and all of the furniture by Novemeber... is that too early?  Also, when are you wanting your shower?  I'd like to have mine November 20th, one day shy of 34 weeks.  It is the week before Thanksgiving so I don't think anyone will be traveling yet and that will give me time to get everything organized hopefully before baby bean gets here.  E's cousin's wife is having hers when she is only 27 weeks and I feel like that is too early... I know there is not set time on when you should or shouldn't have one but what do you think?

18 weeks!!!

How Far Along: 18 weeks! Does that sound like a lot to you because it does to me!!

How Big is The Baby: This week baby is growing from the size a SWEET POTATO to a MANGO! The bump says 6.0in (but we were that two weeks ago!) and 8.5oz!

Total Weight Gain: I'm betting at the visit in a week and a half I will have gained about 5lbs.  E tried to check the scale with a dumbell and it was still all over the place so we'll probably buy a new one.  This week we're going on vacation and stopping at a few places featured on Diners Drive Ins and Dives so it may be more than 5lbs!

Maternity Clothes: A, you'll be happy to know today may be the last day of the windpants!  As I'm sitting here I keep having to tug at the waist band because it's pushing on my lower belly.  I think we will be going strictly to maternity pants and too-big basketball shorts :)

Sleep: I had two glorious nights of only waking up once to go to the bathroom. Yesterday I felt dehydrated and drank two bottles of water between 8 and 9 so I was up every few hours.  I do find getting a comfortable position in bed much more difficult though.

Gender: BOY!!!! I was worried about things switching at the next ultrasound but I've looked at many ultrasounds and have all but convinced myself we're having a little man!

Movement: YES! It started Monday night and I feel it a few times a day now.  If I sit and lean forward he moves a lot!

Food Cravings: Anything!  Hah, I don't know if I've ever been this hungry!  My portions are still much smaller than they used to be but I eat and then I'm hungry again within an hour.  I'm trying my best to eat as healthy as I can but like I said, I'm sure the weight gain has begun.  Oh, and as for last week's craving of Wing Stop... we took care of that last Sunday afternoon but it already sounds delightful again!

What I Miss: Hahaha... normal hair growth. This is probably TMI but it's my blog.  So my legs and armpits are gross these days.  I always have shaved every morning in the shower but it seems like now by mid afternoon I could shave again! THEN yesterday I looked in the mirror in the car and had two large BLACK hairs on the side of my face on each side... they were super long too. Ewwww! Did I really just tell yall that?!  Oh, also my eyebrows that used to make it two weeks between waxing barely make it a week now!

What I'm looking forward to: My belly getting bigger and more movement!  I can't wait for the day for him to move enough for E to be able to feel him!  Oh, and we're going to see my dad in Houston this week so that's exciting!

Milestones: M O V E M E N T!  Yesterday at the baby shower a few people saw me that hadn't seen me in a few weeks and all had the  "whoa! where'd that come from!?" reaction to my belly.  Loved it!
