Update on J

***My sister J, not the J that had emergency surgery for a ruptured ectopic last month***

Monday's Beta and Progesterone were 849 and 8.  The doctor prescribed her progesterone suppositories and she went back this morning,48 hours later, for a redraw.  Today's levels were a beta of 2073 and progesterone of 17- That's a doubling time of 37.27 hours.  Now she's worried because of the higher betas that it's going to be ectopic but I don't know.  Hopefully the numbers will keep increasing and sustain a healthy pregnancy!  She goes in this coming Monday for her first ultrasound!  At first we were both thinking she was only about 3 1/2 weeks along but with the higher betas who knows and of course based on her LMP she would be 6wks 2days today.

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

At work we have to keep our phones put up in our lockers so when I went to the restroom and checked my phone at noon and saw a missed call and voicemail from Dr P's office I thought I failed since yesterday she said she would call after 3 with the results and here it was three hours earlier and she already called.  Luckily though I listened to the message and heard "Samantha, just wanted to let you know you passed your glucose test and all of your bloodwork looked great! Call back with any questions."  WAHOO!!!! I don't know what my number was but yesterday she did tell me that 140 or above was failing so all I know is I was lower than that!  I did drink a full bottle of water right before I drank the orange goo- not because I was trying to cheat but because I was that thirsty!  Also, Mr Man must have loved it because starting about an hour after I drank it all the way until last night when I went to bed he was the most active he has EVER been!!!

Other great news of the day- I SCHEDULED MY 3D/4D ULTRASOUND!  Next Tuesday at 3:30pm we will be getting a great look at our sweet little man and seeing his face! I cannot wait! I will be 27 weeks 2 days so he won't be chubby yet but I still can't wait to see him!  The package we're getting comes with 4 print out pictures and I think I will be buying the video so I can also get pictures of that.  YAAY!!!  This will probably be my last ultrasound unless Dr P is worried about his growth (too big or too small) or his positioning.  The place we're going has great reviews and the package is only $75 which I think is extremely reasonable.

J got her first beta back yesterday and her beta was 849(!) BUT her progesterone was only 8 and they wanted it to be 12 or higher so they began her on progesterone suppositories and she goes for her redraw (48hrs later) tomorrow morning.  She is terrified this will cause a miscarriage but hopefully they caught it early enough. Pray for a doubling beta and a good progesterone number for her!

26 weeks 1 day

Glucose test completed!  The drink wasn't horrible but thankfully I thought to take 2 Tums before and I think that helped me out some.  The nurse told me that I'll get a call tomorrow after 3pm if my sugar is 150 or higher and if it is then I'll go in Monday for the 3 hour test.

I am up 3.4lbs since last visit (3 weeks ago) and that's a total of 15.2 for the pregnancy and my blood pressure was 128/72.  T.ruitt's heartbeat was a strong 152bpm and my uterus is measuring slightly ahead at 28 weeks.  Dr P assured me that 2 weeks isn't a big deal and since he wasn't measuring that much ahead on the ultrasound we're good!  I got my flu shot and I go back in 3 weeks for another appointment.

Dr P was delivering a baby when I got there so the nurse chatted a bit more than normal.  We got to talking about my due date and she said with all patients Dr P will offer induction at 39 weeks.  That means we could be going in the hospital on Decemeber 26th and delivering Decemeber 27th!!! I REALLY don't want to be induced by my husband REALLY wants a 2010 baby so we'll see how things go when we get closer.  Maybe little man will decide to come around 37 or 38 weeks!

Versatile Blogger Award!

Jess at Here Comes the Sun gave me this award!  Although Jess and I are due within a few days of each other she is in a much different situtation that I am.  First of all- her husband is on the other side of the world, serving our country in South Korea (and I'm worried about Eric going out of state for two weeks!) and second of all her sweet little boy Elliot was diagnosed with Gastroschisis during an early ultrasound.  Luckily she is an amazingly strong lady and I know that Mr Elliot is going to come out fighting and pray for a quick recovery and short NICU stay!  Please go visit her blog!!! Thanks again Jess for the award!

The Rules:
•thank and link back to the person nice enough to give you the award
•share seven things about yourself
•pass the award along to seven other bloggers who you think are fabulous
•contact the bloggers you chose and let them know about the award

Seven things I bet you didn't know about me:
1. My left thumb is considerably shorter than my right. It looks like it was hit with a hammer or something but my mother swears that never happened.  It's pretty bizarre.  When E comes home tonight I'll have him take a picture so I can add it to this!

2. I am not diagnosed with OCD but I have a LOT of tendencies. When I leave the house I have to check the pilot lights on our stove (it's gas) and check the burners in a specific order and a certain number of times before I leave the house. If I get sidetracked and do something else before walking out of the door I have to do it again.

3. I was a BOY scout!  They have a co-ed group called Venture for girls age 14-21 and I joined and absolutely LOVED it! I worked as the head lifeguard and a boyscout camp the summer after I graduated high school and even when backpacking at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico!

4. I have been bitten by a brown recluse spider FOUR times.  Each time it bit my in two spots, all on my right leg.  Each time the bites had to be lanced and packed with antibiotic strips daily.  It was horrible pain and who gets bit two twices on two different occasions!?

5. I played tuba in high school, marching band and all!  As you can tell, I wasn't too big on "girly" things and tuba just seemed fitting!

6. Even though I normally just mention my sister J, I am one of 5.  My dad was married and had two kids then divorced and married my mom had J and me and then again got divorced and remarried and had one more kid.  The oldest, my half brother, was 30 when my youngest half sister was born!

7. I thought I was allergic to shrimp for a few years.  As a kid I ate it no problem but then around my freshman year of high school I ate it two or three times and got extremely sick each time and my throat would even swell up so I figured it was an acquired allergy and didn't eat shrimp for over 7 years.  About a year ago I tried it again and haven't had a problem since!

Now here are my 7 award-getters!
Amber at Life:Chats and Rants
Angie at Random Thoughts from Angie
Crossed Fingers at My Lovely Lady Bump
NohaEl at New York-Cairo Baby
Paige at The Turning of Paige
Pookiedoo87 at Autism, Pregnancy, and Other Scary Things
Tracey at My Sweet T

I've been tagged!

So Green Sprout over at The (Baby) Elephant in the Bedroom tagged me awhile ago and I've been a horrible blogger and am just getting around to it!

1. What childhood habit did you either retain or take the longest to lose?
Being terrified of being alone at night time.  When I was really little I ended up in my parents' bad almost every night.  Once my parents were divorced we moved from Florida to Texas and lived in my grandma's house until we were about to get our own place.  Nana's house was a 3 bedroom so she had her bed, my sister had her's and I slept with my mom (I was in 1st grade).  Once we moved into our own house a few months later I had a terrible time sleeping in my own bed and this continued...until I was in 6th grade.  I would sleep in my room but wake up in the middle of the night scared and go sleep on my sister's floor.  I still to this day HATE being home alone at night and even sleep in a seperate bedroom (that has a TV that I leave on all night) when E is out of town.  What a chicken!!!

2. If you were invisible for a day, what would you do?
This is a really hard one!  I think I would go around naked just because I could!

3. If you could change one thing in your past, what would it be and how would it alter your life today?
I have a REALLY hard time with this question.  If I could change something that means I would probably not be where I am today.  Disregarding that piece (so if I could change something but still be married to E with the faimly I have right now!) I wish I would have stayed at Texas A&M and finished my bachelor's degree!

4. When you're old and crusty, will you let your family put you in a home?
I really would like to never be "crusty" but I have to answer so I think I will "let" them but I pray that my children will never be in the situation to have to care for us, that my husband and I will be healthy old people and if the situation were to arise, that they would offer to take care of us rather than send us to a home!

5. Have you ever been transported via ambulance and if so why?
No! It's amazing because I have had so many injuries but everyone I've gone by private car to the doctor!

6. Tell us something about yourself that makes you proud to be you!
So many things!  I will choose my optimism.  I have always been a glass half full kind of person and have been told that I make other people really comfortable to be around my "sunny disposition!"

Now I get to tag some followers and have them answer some questions!  Here we go:
Missie at ...And Baby Makes Three
Jess at Here Comes the Sun
Kelly at Little Looman Log

Here are your questions ladies:
1.  What is your favorite holiday?
2. What do you want to be when you "grow up"- Even if we're already grown up, are you doing what you always thought you would be doing?
3. Do you have any special "quirks" about you or specific tendencies you have to do daily?
4. If you could live somewhere else, where would it be and why?
5.  How many children would you like to have?
6. What was your wedding day like?

26 weeks!!!

How Far Along: 26 weeks!

How Big is The Baby: Approximately 15.5 inches long and over 2lbs! As long as a CUCUMBER!

Total Weight Gain: I'm THINKING I'll be up about 4 from last visit, so 16 for the pregnancy but we'll know tomorrow!

Maternity Clothes: A lot of the hand-me-downs I've been wearing are getting too short.  I've found that old navy's regular $5 t-shirts are actually longer than a lot of the maternity tops I have so I've been wearing them.

Sleep: I broke down and took benadryl again the other night- AND ONLY WOKE UP ONCE AND FELL BACK ASLEEP!  It was great!  I really don't like taking meds though so I'm going to keep it for when I'm exhausted.  On nights when I'm on my own without it I normally sleep until 1 and then get up again around 3 and 6; the problem is that it takes about an hour for me to fall back asleep each time.

Gender: BOY!!!

Movement: All the time! He is getting more interactive too where if I poke him he'll kick back or move out of the way!

Food Cravings: MINT ICE CREAM.  I had mint chocolate chip about 3 times (it was a pint so it took me 3 sitting to polish it off) this week and then E and I went to Dairy Queen the other night and I got a mint m&m blizzard.  YUM!  Also, HAD to have apple juice this morning.

What I Miss: Sleeping through the night

What I'm looking forward to: Hearing his heartbeat tomorrow!  Getting my results after my one hour glucose test tomorrow (although I'm quite certain I'm going to fail it). AND SETTING UP HIS ROOM!

Milestones:  A spider vein : /  It's not full blown purple yet but it's been getting a bit brighter every day now on my thigh.   Also, the countdown until due date is now in the double digits!

Symptoms:  Heartburn (I pop Tums like breathmints!), Insomnia, Colostrum, Round Ligament Pain, Mood Swings (very short tempered and I have HORRIBLE road rage!)

Please excuse my dirty mirror, I haven't had a day off in forever!

Only 99 days until due date!!!

Holy heck we're down to the double digits!!! I cannot believe that we're already here and I can only imagine how quickly the next few months are going to go.  Also, now that my sister is pregnant too.. YES!  She's one of those people that got pregnant on a break from fertility treatments!  After having a failed first IUI J and her husband took a break to get their finances and emotions in check.  She hadn't had a period since the post IUI period on August 16th and tested last week but it was negative.  She tested this morning and got a very faint positive on an internet cheapie and after her husband requested, she went and bought a clear blue digital and it was positive from her second pee of the morning!!!  Based on her LMP she is due May 23rd but I'm willing to bet she O'd late and is due the first week of June.  She called the fertility doctor to ask about some meds she's taking so she goes in Monday for a beta/progesterone check.  Please pray this is a sticky bean in the right place!  Our children will have birthdays about 5 months apart!

In other great news, the Just Between Friends sale yesterday was FANTASTIC!!!  E picked out a lot of the stuff we got which thrills me to see him getting excited!  I didn't want to buy any baby gear because I want to see what I'll get at the shower but we got a TON of adorable outfits and I got a nursing gown, all for $80!  My friend that is due a week before me got a diaper champ, bedding set, exersaucer, and a lot of clothes for $130!  Here are some of my favorite purchases!

Size 0-3 month lined flannel jacket :) and the "work boots" E picked out!

Set of onesies- Cowboy hat, Cowboy boot, Puppy, Sheriff Star, Horse, Cow, and "Mommy's Little COWBOY"!!!

Debbie Downer post... Sorry! (But Baby is great!!!)

I have been a pretty crappy blogger this past week.  Excuses, excuses but I don't think I've gotten on my computer at home and when I check blogger at work I only have time to read and not comment so please forgive me!

As for work- our overtime pay is REALLY screwy.  If you work over 80 hours in a 2 week pay period you accrue those hours at time and a half- so you work 4 hours and bank 6.  You only get paid for this however ONCE EVERY 6 MONTHS so it's a pretty crappy deal and most people end up taking it off before you get paid for it which I think is the idea anyway so they're not short money.  Anyway, we are due to get paid September 30th and March 31st for the overtime but since I'm going to be on maternity leave here sooner than later they're letting me carry my time from September rather than get paid for it now so that I will get paid for longer once T.ruitt comes.  I told my boss I'd be willing to work some overtime to get things added up and evidently she thought that meant I'd work all day everyday.  I'm not really exaggerating THAT much either.  This week for example I worked Tuesday 10a-8p, Wednesday 8a-6p, Thursday 12p-8p, Friday 6a-4p, Saturday 6a-5p, Sunday 4p-8p.  Then after ONE DAY OFF I will work another 52 hours next week.  I don't want to say no but I'm worried that I'm going to get too tired.

As for being tired- last night I slept from 9:30-1:30 and layed in bed from 1:30 until my alarm went off at 5.  I HATE taking anything but I'm going to have to because I am so tired I feel like I can barely function.  Tonight I am planning on trying benadryl again and praying that I don't find myself staring at the dark walls in the middle of the night again.

Also, this week there have been two cases at work that have really bothered me and now that they've been released on the news I can talk about them.  The first one is a call came in on Monday of a structure fire and when the fire department got on scene they found three people inside that had been murdered. Yes, that sounds bad enough until you hear that one of the ladies was pregnant.  When they investigators told me that I nearly got sick.  They weren't sure quite how far along she was but they said during the autopsy the baby was already developed enough to look like a baby.  Then, yesterday A GROWN WOMAN HAD A BABY AT WORK AT A BURGER PLACE AND THEN WALKED IT TO THE DUMPSTER AND WENT HOME.  Thank God the child is ok and the mother was arrested and according to the news will possibly be charged with attempted capitol murder but how in the world do you do that?!?!?!  How do you carry a child, DELIVER HIM FROM YOUR BODY, and simply throw him in the trash and walk away? There are SO many people that would do anything to be able to have a child and this person just dumped him?  Also, she was less than 5 minutes away from a hospital that is a Baby Moses site where you can drop off an infant no questions asked.  Absolutely disgusts me.  I pray that the little guy is healthy (he was found almost immediately and rushed to the hospital.  I heard he was about 5lbs and they didn't ship him to a bigger hospital with a NICU so that's promising) and that a loving family gets to adopt him and give him the wonderful life he deserves.

Geez that was all depressing.

IN HAPPIER NEWS!  Today is the presale for our local Just Between Friends Sale and I couldn't be more excited! Basically it's a HUGE garage sale of baby/kids/other stuff for a.m.a.z.i.n.g prices.  Also, everything is checked for quality (no rips, stains, defects) and all of the baby and kid gear is checked for recalls.  Look back tomorrow to hear the amazing deals I got!

Also, I have been tagged to answer a few questions and will get to that on Sunday!!!

25 weeks!!!

How Far Along: 25 weeks!

How Big is The Baby: Approximately 13.5 inches long and close two 2lbs! The bump and what to expect both say about the size of an EGGPLANT still.

Total Weight Gain: As of last visit, 12lbs for the pregnancy.  I won't update until my next appointment.

Maternity Clothes: Almost exclusively

Sleep: I took benadryl one night and even though I still woke up twice to pee I fell back asleep almost instantly.  It was fantastic! This week I'm working some overtime and will probably use the pink little pill again.

Gender: BOY!!!

Movement: Yes! E finally felt him last week and today I was sure he was kicking hard enough for my mom to feel him but she couldn't. I love his movements!

Food Cravings: I had a dream about Honey Nut Cheerios milk and cereal bars so I bought some but they were not good... AT ALL

What I Miss: Sleeping through the night

What I'm looking forward to: WE PICKED UP THE FURNITURE TODAY so I cannot wait to put it together! I know we said we were going to wait until we painted but now that the boxes are here we both really want to set it up so I think E will do it this week!

Milestones: Colostrum! I noticed at the start of the week that my nipples had small beads of clear fluid on them.  Some might think it's gross but I'm excited and hopeful it's a good indication that I'll be able to breastfeed. Also getting the furniture in!!!!

Happiness Today, Hope for tomorrow Award!!!

Thank you so much Kelly for my award!  If you haven't ever stopped by Kelly's blog you really should.  She recently got some GREAT betas (and progesterone levels) in and we're all waiting for her ultrasound in 2 1/2 weeks to get some great news and find out how many beans are there after a IUI with 3 mature follies!  Love you Kelly!

So, the point of this whole thing appears to be to talk about what I'm happy about today and what I'm hopeful for tomorrow... as if you couldn't get that from the title... but alas, it felt like an explanation was warranted and Kelly did it best so I copied hers!

Of course you all know what I am happy about- THIS PREGNANCY!  I know that my infertility journey was only 6 months compared to so many of my dear bloggers that went years to achieve pregnancy and the countless others that are still on their way to pregnancy but I feel like each day is such a blessing!  I am so happy that up until now (and hopefully until delivery) I have had a beautiful pregnancy without any major complications and I have a wonderful healthy little boy growing strong inside of me!  I am happy for the wonderful support system of friends (including all of you!) and family that I have going through this pregnancy with us!

Oh and this makes me REALLY happy!
E texted me saying he had "bought us a surprise" and when I got home I saw this diaper bag!  It may not seem like much but he picked it out on his own and bought it without any hints placed or anything.

As for the hope part it's pretty obvious too.  I hope that this pregnancy continues to go smoothly and that we welcome a healthy happy baby boy into our arms this December or January.  I am hopeful that I can be a good mother and continue to be a good wife to my husband.  I hope that I am able to raise this child in a happy home and give him every opportunity to be anything and everything he will ever want to be!

I hope that all of my pregnant friends also get to experience happy and healthy pregnancies that are complication free and that everyone welcomes their babies into wonderful homes.  I am hopeful for the friends I know of that have been given news of birth defects on their children that their babies will come out strong and fighting and the doctors will be able to repair any problems and have them safe at home as soon as possible.  Also, I am so hopeful for all of those I know that are still trying to concieve; hopeful that they will soon achieve healthy pregnancies and hopeful that they have strength to continue as beautifully as they have so far!

As the last step in fulfilling my award requirements, I am to nominate 3 of my favorite bloggers. I would like to nominate:
Coco at Wishing, Hoping, Thinking, and Praying
Mrs V at Becoming a Family of Three
Tina at The Ros' Bowl
I hate that it's only 3 because I love all of you!

"It feels like a marble rolling under you skin"

That's what E just said when he felt T.ruitt move for the first time!  I had tried to get him to feel the movement a couple weeks ago but it was really low and no such luck.  Since I have felt strong kicks up around my belly button for the past week I've tried daily to get E to feel them but our little booger would quit moving around as soon as his daddy would touch my belly- UNTIL TONIGHT!

E thought it was really cool and it made me cry!

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

So after all my going back and forth this morning I noticed on the JCPenney website that the free ship to store event ended today... it may have been a ploy to get me to buy today but I didn't want to chance it actually ending today so E told me to go ahead and order the furniture! It is in stock and should arrive at our local store in 4 to 7 business days!!!

The furniture in the picture is "cherry" and we got "maple" for ours which is a light-medium colored wood that matches the rest of our house.  Oh, and all three pieces AFTER tax came out to $746.92.  I personally think that's an amazing price.  Most cribs we were looking at in other places were $400 and another $300 for just a dresser.

When it comes in we will go to the store and open a box to make sure we like the color of the wood; if we do not we will exhange it then for the "espresso" color.  As long as we like it, which I have a feeling we will, we will come home and match it next to the bedding and paint color and then leave it in the box until the room is painted to make sure we don't drip anything on it.

Making room for baby...

Now that we've reached 24 weeks I feel like I'm finally ready to start on the nursery.  I have said from the start that we are not painting until it's cooled off but the problem is we're in Texas and even though it's mid September, it's still in the 90's with a heat index near 100 due to humidity.  I do not want to get furniture until the room is painted because it will just be in the way but now I'm starting to wonder when we'll get it done.

Oh, have I mentioned that E IS GOING TO WYOMING FOR TWO WEEKS IN OCTOBER? Yah, that's just over 1,000 miles away .  He has said time and time again that he will stay home but the reality is that he already spent $600 on the hunting license/draw process, he REALLY wants to go, he probably won't be going again for quite a few years, and I'll be 28 weeks so Dr P insists that it will be ok.

So, back to the nursery.  I think we're going to paint the first week of October before he leaves and then order the furniture. Ordering the furniture-  I have looked at all types and styles of cribs.  At first I wanted a crib with the changing table attached and then would just buy a tall chest but then I found on they have 3 piece sets (crib, tall chest and short long dresser where you can put the pad on top) for amazing prices.  The problem is color of wood.  No JCP carries baby furniture in the store so you can't see it in person before you buy it. The good news is you can return/exchange it and there's only a 3-4 day turn around so I think that's what we're going to do.

My main goal is that the nursery is done by the time I have my shower (Novemeber 13th) so that I can come home and put my goodies away and not just have them strung out everywhere.

***UPDATE*** So the more I think about it, the more I don't like my plan I just described!  If we get the furniture AFTER we paint how do we know the colors will match that we have chosen for the walls and the wood?  Also, like Tina mentioned in my comments what if the piece we want is on backorder and takes longer than a week to ship and takes a while to put together?  SO NEW PLAN Order the furniture THIS WEEK(!!!) and just don't set it up until after we paint!  Still try to paint the first week October if the furniture has gotten here or wait until E gets home to paint.

We are planning on going with a khaki/light brown color and maybe a red accent wall.  Absolutely not your typical nursery colors but we really think it will look great with the bedding we chose.  Also, the furniture we're planning on getting is "maple" which is light-medium colored wood that should match the rest of the wood in the house pretty well!

Remember this is the bedding we got:
I am getting so excited!!!

24 weeks!!!

How Far Along: 24 weeks! HELLO VIABILITY!!!

How Big is The Baby: Last week T.ruitt measured 1lb 8oz!  He's growing from the size of an EAR OF CORN to an EGGPLANT!

Total Weight Gain:  My guess was correct. 7.6 lbs for the month (ouch) so just under 12 for the pregnancy.  I have a friend due the week before me and she's at +23lbs and was close to my size before pregnancy so I think I'm doing ok.  We're still shooting for about 5lbs a month though

Maternity Clothes: Almost exclusively

Sleep: Tylenol PM helped the first night I took it and then that was it.  I will be trying benadryl this week.

Gender: BOY!!!

Movement: He kicked SO hard the other night that my shirt was moving but E wouldn't wake up.  Hopefully daddy will be able to feel his little man this week!

Food Cravings: Nothing specific this week after my candy corn pumpkins

What I Miss: Sleeping through the night

What I'm looking forward to: E being able to feel a kick! Term in 13 weeks and I'm due in 16 weeks!!!

Milestones: My first frantic phone call to L&D. I had a hair appointment yesterday morning and when I walked in she gasped and said she forgot I was pregnant, otherwise she would have called to cancel me BECAUSE SHE HAS SHINGLES.  So I immediately left and covered my hands with hand sanitizer as soon as I got the the car since I touched the door knob and called the hospital.  The nurse told me I did the right thing by getting out of there but since I had chicken pox as a kid I should be fine but to call Dr P on Monday if I want the reassurance. OH AND WE'VE REACHED VIABILITY! T.ruitt still needs to stay put for at least 13 times more weeks but what a nice feeling! Also, WE REGISTERED!

Baby Bean's name is...

I still would like for this blog to not be "googleable" and since that isn't a very common name I will type "T.R.U.I.T.T." If you mention his name in a comment please do something similar.

When E and I first started dating we were in his truck one day already talking about baby names and he brought up his grandfather's middle name- T.r.u.i.t.t and I fell in love with the name (and E too!).  Amazingly enough we were on the same stretch of road when we told his parents that we were pregnant!  His middle name will be Ray and that is E's other grandpa's middle name.  We are so happy and love our little man so much alread!

Saturday I'm off for E's cousin's baby shower (which I have a super cute dress that nicely shows off the bump!) and then E and I are going to register at Target!  Sunday we are registering at Babies R Us!

Two weeks ago one of my great friends from high school and his wife were home from the Navy.  They are both photojournalists and she took a few pictures of me.  Above is my favorite and I cannot wait to do it when the bump is bigger in late November and here is my second favorite!

Great visit- a few pictures

23 weeks 3 days!

Our baby boy is doing great but he's one stubborn toot!

I gained 7.6lbs since last visit (OUCH!) BUT I swear a good two pounds had to be my clothes.  Not only was I wearing jeans instead of my normal shorts but we had Hurricane Hermine rains here all day and I walked/ran into the office during a heavy downpour so my pants were literally dripping wet.

Anyway, our little man is measuring one day ahead at 23 weeks 4 days (which made the EDD show 1/1/11!) and his heart was beating at a beautiful 144 beats per minute AND HE WEIGHS 1 POUND 8 OUNCES!  His brain, heart and belly look great and his bones were measuring rightt on track.  My placenta and cervix look just as they're supposed to and the doctor said based on the ultrasound he doesn't forsee any problems (knock on wood) in our future!

As for getting gender confirmation Dr P spent a good 5 minutes trying to get our sleeping little guy to move because he is already head down(!!!) and his bottom is right at my belly button.  The ultrasound doesn't make good contact because there is not complete skin contact (since my tummy button is a hole and not flat with my skin) so there's a dark splotch on the ultrasound but we did see "the turtle" a few times but no great money shot.  Dr P did say boy and that he wouldn't say that if he weren't for sure!  For some added assurance we will be going for a 3D/4D ultrasound the first week of October!

As for pictures- Dr P did give us a dvd of the whole thing and said we could get still pictures from that but baby never gave us a good profile view!  Here are a few of the things I did get off the video!

I got those by watching the video and then pausing and doing a print screen then pasting in paint.  When I have more time and energy I will try to get some more pictures off the video!

All in all baby and I are great and we couldn't ask for more.

OH AND MY NEXT APPOINTMENT IS NOW ONLY 3 WEEKS AWAY.  When did we get to that far in pregnancy?!?!?

Hello Craving!

Remember my dream about candy corn pumpkins? Well guess what walmart had?!?!?
They tasted FANTASTIC! I only ate three because they are pretty much solid sugar but oh what a wonderful three they were!

Oh, and just in case you forgot- TOMORROW IS MY ANATOMY SCAN! I will hopefully have some great pictures to post and if I can figure it out I will upload the video of the ultrasound too!

23 weeks!!!

How Far Along: 23 weeks!

How Big is The Baby: Approximately a pound and a half and as long as an EAR OF CORN!  While the is only updating size monthly, my what to expect app is giving me new sizes weekly still!
Total Weight Gain: We won't know officially until Wednesday but I'm guessing about 8lbs for the month making 12lbs so far for the pregnancy

Maternity Clothes: Of Course!

Sleep: Ugh.  I think that's enough on that. I am going to ask Dr P about taking benadryl or tylenol pm occasionally at my next appointment.

Gender: BOY!!!

Movement: I think baby bean is kicking at my cervix.  This morning I've had a few "vaginal twinges" and that's what I think it is.  He is still kicking more each day but they're really low for the most part.  I have felt it a few times through my skin while touching my belly but each time E goes to feel the little booger quits moving!

Food Cravings: My peanut butter banana bread of course :) Also, I had a dream about those candy corn pumpkins and can't wait to buy some once they come out in a few weeks!

What I Miss: Sleeping through the night

What I'm looking forward to: E being able to feel a kick! DR'S APPOINTMENT WITH ANATOMY SCAN ON WEDNESDAY! Viability is 1 week away, Term is in 14 weeks and I'm due in 17 weeks!!!

Milestones: THREE people told me on Friday that my belly was looking very pregnant!  Also, I had my first dream where I was searching for food and I was woken up by my stomach growling SO loudly... I waddled to the kitchen and ate some banana bread at 1:30am and it fixed the problem.  I also think we set a date for my shower! November 13th!!!
Happy 23 Weeks!!!

Peanut Butter Banana Bread!!!

This has to be one of my favorite recipes EVER!  I think E may let bananas turn brown just so I'll make it.  It is absolutely delicious- I hope you try it out!  Also, it makes your house smell FANTASTIC while baking!  The only difference is you use peanut butter instead of regular butter... SO GREAT!

Cooking spray
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter (do not use "natural")
2/3 cup sugar
3 large ripe bananas, mashed with a fork
2 large eggs, at room temperature, lightly beaten
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chopped pecans (optional) **I USE A TON OF PECANS**
1/2 cup miniature chocolate chips (optional) **I DO NOT USE CHOCOLATE CHIPS**
1.Preheat the oven to 350°F. Mist a 5 x 9-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.

2.In a small bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt with a fork. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer on medium-low speed, beat the peanut butter and sugar together until well blended, about 2 minutes. Beat in the mashed banana and eggs; mix well.

3.Using a wooden spoon or flexible spatula, stir the flour mixture into the peanut butter–banana mixture, mixing until just combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl with a flexible spatula if needed. Stir in the chopped nuts and/or chocolate chips, if using.

4.Pour the batter into the pan and gently smooth the top with the flexible spatula. Bake 45 minutes. Cover the pan loosely with foil and bake 10 to 15 minutes longer, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the bread cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes in the pan.

5.Remove the bread by running a paring knife around the inside of the pan to loosen it, then inverting the pan to release the bread onto a wire rack. Carefully turn the bread right-side up and cool completely. Slice and serve. Wrap any leftovers tightly in plastic wrap and foil; keep at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 1 month.
